Through their official twitter handle, the power company said the duo are receiving treatment at Valley Hospital.

“The two are in hospital receiving treatment. We are awaiting further investigations on the incident,” read the tweet in response to @Streetnakuru.

The two electricians, who were working at a transformer near Lonrho House in Industrial Area were recorded on video repairing the transformer before it caught fire.

Speaking to the press, residents expressed concern over the lack of communication between the power company and the workers.

In another clip, the two are seen being rescued by men believed to have been staff from the company. They can be seen moving their hands.

The incident shocked residents who are now calling for the immediate sacking of the people who were on duty on that day.

“The power was switched on while the two were still on top of the transformer. Either there was serious miscommunication or an attempt to kill the two,” claimed Kelvin Muchiri.

Muchiri pointed out that it was unlikely for such a “careless” mistake to happen, yet the company was well equipped with communication gadgets.

James Wakibia wondered why there were no emergency first aiders on the ground.

“In any case, the risk of people being electrocuted while up on a power line is high and they did not even have an ambulance on standby,” he added.
