There was drama in Thika during a community policing unit meeting with the police bosses when an elegant lady stole the Deputy OCPD’s mobile phone.
Mary Wambui Kamau, 38, seemingly attended the meeting with a malicious intention as she neither belonged to the police department nor the community policing unit.
According to the Thika West Deputy OCPD Mary Kiarie, the victim, the thug had been wandering around her office before the meeting commenced but she paid no attention as she thought she was among the policing unit members due to the thug’s elegance.
Kiarie narrated that she got into the washroom with her handset and went out to get some water leaving it on a shelf in the washrooms.
She added that on coming back, the mobile phone was missing and she immediately alarmed the police officers and the CIDs present in the meeting who launched investigations immediately on all the women as no gentleman could have accessed the room.
The meeting was in progress as the probing went on and no one noticed the suspicious lady who had hidden the handset inside her breasts after she removed the sim card.
The furious women in the meeting raised their concern on why they were the suspects as men could have also sneaked in the washroom and pocketed the phone.
Joseph Kangethe, a CID officer saved the day for when he suspected the woman and opted to frisk her.
Kangethe explained that the woman refused to be frisked only to find out that she had the Nokia 530 worth Sh18,000 that had been stolen hidden between her breasts.
The culprit was immediately apprehended by the angered Deputy OCPD herself and frog marched her to the Thika police station where she is in custody waiting to be arraigned in court tomorrow.
