Members of County Assembly from Elgeyo Marakwet county who failed to clinch Jubilee Party tickets in primaries, have blamedarea senator Kipchumba Murkomen for their defeat.
The nomination saw only two MCAs out of 17 retain their seats - Davis Kipketer of Sengwer and Christopher Chemosong, of Arror.
Led by Wilson Boit, the Majority leader in the County Assembly and Kabiemit MCA, they faulted Murkomen for inciting locals to reject them.
“The MCAs who boast of a very good law, the Equitable Development Act that gives the public an upper hand in decision making were sacrificed by one or two statements by the Senator,” Boit said.
He alleged that the Jubilee senator told the residents the MCAs misused county funds thus leading to poor development in the county.
“He went round saying the resources of this county have been misused and the electorate bought the claim,” Boit added.
“How come performing MCAs who have been ranked third best in the county have been sent home?” he wondered.
Deputy speaker, Paul Suter, who presided over the Wednesday sitting, had asked the leaders to discuss the nominations.
