32 year old Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya has completed a marathon in close to two hours flat, something deemed unachievable before.
Kipchoge, who was running at the Nike's 'Breaking2' marathon in Italy, clocked in at 2:00:26. He just fell short of becoming the first person in history to run a full marathon in under two hours.
He beat Dennis Kimetto's world mark of 2:02:57 set at the 2014 Berlin Marathon.
The 32-year-old broke his personal best time of 2:03:05, which was set at the London Marathon last year.
The attempt at Monza's Formula One race course did not go down as an official world record, sanctioned by the IAAF, due to variables like pacers entering mid-race and drinks being given to runners via mopeds.
The event was promoted as testing the limits of the human body, and going "beyond limits".
