Few days after KANU made the headlines by opposing the results of the Kericho by- elections, the Electoral Observation Group (ELOG) has cleared the air saying the elections results were fair and genuine.

ELOG ruled out claims by the KANU party that IEBC rigged the Kericho elections in favour of the Jubilee party. However, the group also revealed that there were few cases of voter bribery.

It pointed out the misuse of public funds as the report said the deputy president used public funds to campaign for Jubilee candidates in Kericho. This is also termed as abuse of office.

ELOG also praised IEBC for having conducted the exercise professionally.

The findings were collected after ELOG sent 38 stationary and 18 roving observers to the ground.

This comes after the IEBC told KANU to provide substantial evidence indicating that the commission rigged the election in favour of Aaron Cheruiyot.

KANU had earlier accused the IEBC of working against its flag bearer, Paul Sang. The party later revealed that they won the elections by 126,000 votes. The party claimed the tallying was done by tallying officers in the party.
