Nominated senator Martha Wangari has urged leaders to embrace the County Development Board (CDB) to end leadership wrangles and chaos being experienced in counties.
Wangari said the move will facilitate platform for consultation, dialogue among leaders in order to avert disagreement in county leadership.
“Governors, Members of County Assemblies, Senators and legislators in counties will have a better way of solving their different ideologies on how the county affairs should be undertaken without chaos and fights by embracing County Development Board,” said Wangari.
Speaking in Gilgil Constituency while distributing books to Gilgil Highway School, Wangari said that, a legal framework to guide on how counties are managed should be put in place.
She has decried the recent chaos which is ongoing in Narok County where two people have been killed during the protest led by Narok Senator Ole Ntutu and five legislators accusing Governor Samuel Tunai of corruption.
“We have to embrace leadership integrity by respecting other leaders and engaging in dialogue to end differences. Kenya Constitution also provides legal way of dealing with corrupt leaders and way of impeaching them,” notes Wangari.
The Senator has challenged her fellow leaders and members of the public to show respect to all institutions by allowing them to conduct their work without interference.
Wangari decried that, the Narok County issue of public fund mismanagement was being handled by the Senate Committee on Finance and Controller of Budget but leaders disregarded their effort.
“We have to respect our legal institution on solving our differences in county leadership rather than taking action and taking law into our hands. The move will undermine credibility and integrity of such institution,” noted Wangari.
