Wangigi residents have been urged to embrace Nyumba Kumi initiative and community policing to tame crime and drug abuse in the Limuru, Kiambu County.
The residents of the area have complained of insecurity in the region and influence of youth to drug and substance abuse that has raised alarm in the community.
Led by Limuru Member of Parliament Eng. Paul Kiragu who was speaking in Wangigi on Friday morning, the community policing will greatly filter the youths who tarnish the name of the constituency with drugs and crime.
“If you embrace the policing, it will help reduce youth or criminals in the community and we will have a comfortable life with no fear,” said Kiragu.
The engineer said that the most affected people in the community are the women and children who vulnerable of the heinous act by the hooliganism of the youth.
He has expressed his concerned to the act and advocated the residents to work with local chiefs and community elders to report those suspects so as they be brought to books and save the community from agony.
“Let’s work with our local chiefs and elders in fishing out this criminals from our homes so as they face the rule of law and justice,” urged the MP
The legislator said that the constituency is working towards development and will not tolerate rowdy and idle criminals to drag them behind by stealing what the community has work hard to achieve or influence the young generation into drugs and substance abuse.
He recommended youth to engage into small businesses and venture into talents as a solution as opposed to crime which will ruin the future generation in line with vision 2030.
However Kiragu extended his gratitude to the Kiambu community policing chairman Paul Njomo for working towards sensitizing the county on importance of Nyumba Kumi.
