Mugera said fostering cordial relationships with the police will help in the fight against crime in the vast county.

“The relationship between the local people and the police officers can lead to the success of the community policing,” the police boss said.

“By so doing, the residents will be in a position to help the police officers to flush out thugs and criminals.”

Speaking at Lari police station during a meeting of all the Kiambu police bosses and local residents, Mugera urged the residents to strive for a crime-free society where everyone is responsible for the security situation in the country.

Mugera added that the days of human rights violation by the police officers were long gone and that theirs was to just ensure that there is law and order.

“Due to good community policing and relations, we hardly receive any crime reports at Lari and Kijabe police stations,” Mugera added.

Paul Kimani, the Evergreen Supermarket proprietor, said that it was very important for both the community and the police to win the war against crime.

“If we all cooperate, Kiambu County will be the most peaceful in the country,” said Kimani.
