He says this will broaden career options for Kenyan trainees.

The ambassador said this when he presented a public lecturer on: Diplomacy and the role played by the late revolutionary leader Hugo Chavez in international affairs of Venezuela, at Egerton University Nakuru Town Campus.

The public lecture was targeted at students and staff in media and communication courses but was also attended by other students, staff and administrators of the campus.

Dr Balza noted that few universities in Kenya offer courses in diplomacy and international relations yet the field was broad and unexploited. He urged the students to explore post graduate programmes in diplomacy and international relations to broaden their careers.

“We can learn a lot from people who have gone round the world trying to improve the lives of others through diplomacy. We need to embrace diplomacy as a legitimate modern career of choice among trainees in our higher learning institutions,” he observed.

The Principal of the college Prof Lenah Nakhone said the university would explore collaboration opportunities with Venezuelan universities in the field of diplomacy among others, especially in research and postgraduate programmes.
