Machakos Town MP Victor Munyaka has called on politicians in Ukambani region  to exercise issued based politics and desist from selfish and petty politics.

Munyaka said that petty and selfish politics was the reason to why Ukambani has lagged behind in terms of development.

Speaking on phone on Tuesday, the Machakos Town MP asked politicians to exercise issue based politics which he said will bring development.

“Ukambani region has been left behind in terms of development because as leaders we focus much on ourselves,” he said.

The MP stated that time was ripe for Ukambani leaders to put aside their political differences and work together for a common goal.

“We have to stop seeing ourselves as enemies and instead partner together for the sake of development,” he added.

The Machakos Town legislator further called on politicians to spearhead unity of the region.

He said that unity will put them at a better place in terms of development.

Mr Munyaka urged locals to remain united ahead of the 2017 general elections.

Speaking in Mwala constituency on Sunday, Deputy President William Ruto reiterated on the need for Ukambani leaders to work together.

The DP said that the region stands to gain in terms of development if its leaders work together.
