In an effort to offer health service for mother and child health, a mobile clinic facilitated by the beyond zero campaign has been making visits in different wards within Kiambu County.
Speaking in his office today the kiambu district hospital medical superintendent Dr. James Kariuki said that they are encouraged by the campaign since they have been able to cover a total of seven wards so far within the County, offering medical services to the women in the region.
Kariuki mentioned that it is important for the mothers to know and understand that it is a clinic and not an ambulance, since some are shying away from visiting the facility due to that perception.
He urged that they should take advantage of the clinic to get informed and learn different medical lessons pertaining safe reproductive health and proper childcare.
On the same note, the sub-county Public Health Nursing Officer, Mrs. Emmah Waweru reiterated that the mobile clinic should encourage women in keeping track of their medical histories, especially mothers thus they should be keen in embracing the clinic just like a hospital knowing that there is no major difference.
She noted that an awareness plan would benefit the mothers in remote areas of the county, since they have faced some hitches from some women who perceived the clinic as an ambulance that would not offer adequate medical help and assistance.
Waweru mentioned that the clinic would be in kiambu sub county for eight more days thus she encourages more women to come in and be offered medical assistance pertaining health.
The nursing officer said that they are not only focusing on women but also men can be offered some medical help and even those seeking different health information such as cancer screening of breast, cervical and vital information about family planning methods.
