Residents of Kalimoni ward in Kiambu County have been urged to embrace the services offered by the Kenya National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF).
Addressing the residents in his ward on Tuesday, Kalimoni ward county representative, Joel Waichere, noted that many of the area residents are not yet registered with NHIF, which he said was risky in case of an emergency.
The representative urged the residents to secure NHIF cards for better healthcare service delivery whenever they are admitted in hospitals and cannot afford to settle the bill.
“It is regrettable when someone or his next of kin has to stay in a hospital ward after being discharged simply because they cannot clear the bill,” he said.
He added that the NHIF charges are very low thus can be achieved or raised by any common man in the area.
The MCA said this will ensure better and quicker healthcare provision to all regardless of their social class.
He appealed to his counterparts in various wards in Kiambu and the country to appeal and urge their people to register for the NHIF cards in order to live a stress free life.
Waichere added that a healthy nation helps foster the social, political and economic development of a nation towards achieving vision 2030.
He appealed to Kiambu County health CeC Jonah Mwangi to come up with ways of ensuring the residents are fully registered in the NHIF services in order to enjoy free medical services.
