Addressing residents at Ruiru trading center on Friday, the MP said that though security in the constituency has improved, residents must embrace Nyumba Kumi.

The legislator observed that since the introduction of Nyumba Kumi cases of crime have declined.

“I want to ask Ruiru residents to support the police in their quest to completely weed out crime,” she said.

Gathogo noted that crime is the greatest enemy of development adding that the county and the national government must implement appropriate security measures.

She said that security is the responsibility of the government but needs the support of Kenyans.

The Ruiru MP further asked the government to deploy more security to the constituency in order to intensify patrols.

She said that there is need for more security officials to deal with cases of crime that might erupt.

Gathogo observed that criminals are devising more ways of committing crime hence the need for more security personnel.

The lawmaker on the same tone asked the government to buy modern equipment for police officers saying the move will help them respond to crime effectively and appropriately.
