Speaking at Ndumberi Grounds on Monday, Maina said that the national and county governments have formulated policies aimed at boosting security. She said that the public must support the policies to help fight crime effectively.

The commissioner urged the locals to adopt Nyumba Kumi and community policing and also help law enforcers’ deal with criminals.

“The government has launched various security measures which needs public support, for us to fight crime and insecurity we need the support of the public,” she said.

Maina said that Nyumba Kumi initiative has worked in some parts of Kiambu County well. She cited Ruiru, Limuru, Lari, Kikuyu and Thika as areas that have embraced Nyumba Kumi effectively.

“We need you (the public) to embrace Nyumba Kumi and help us nail criminals who are among the public,” she said.

Maina said that security personnel in Kiambu will remain on alert with 24-hour police patrols.

She said that the national government has deployed more security personnel in most parts of the county to streamline surveillance.

Maina said that nothing will be ignored especially at this time when the country has been facing security scares.
