The National Alliance (TNA) party Secretary General Onyango Oloo said the community has suffered as a result of remaining in one party.

Mr Oloo said other communities have embraced different political parties and have not been intimidated.

“Other tribes support ODM yet they are not castigated. My support for Jubilee has not gone down well with my tribesmen and women. They see me as an outcast,” he said.

He said he is not against the presidency of Raila Odinga but feels that the community should be free to support other parties.

Speaking to the press in Kisumu on Tuesday, Oloo said the community must now chart their political destiny to remain relevant.

“Why must my community continue following one party, if that party fails to achieve what they want, they all fail. Please cross over to other parties so that you can have chances in winning,” he said.

He said the community has faithfully followed the party associated with the doyen opposition leader Jaramogi Oginga Odinga and his son Raila Odinga.

Oloo said it is high time the community takes stock and look at the benefits they are deriving from that loyalty.

He said anybody should be allowed to have divergent political views to make democracy to thrive in the region.
