Peace activist at the Coast are calling for political tolerance in the country so that the country remains peaceful.

The activists led by ‘One Nation Under God-ONUG’, a Non-governmental organisation preaching peace in the region said on Tuesday in Mombasa that it was through such political bickering that the country was taken back  to a fresh political mood.

ONUG Chair Mary Oyier said that the Organization has been working with other peace ambassadors at the Coast in preaching peace but with the current political intolerance, the country may be headed into fresh political wrangles.

Oyier urged both Jubilee and the opposition NASA to cease political fire and unite the nation.

“Raila’s call for electoral reforms in the country should not be ignored, the country needs political reforms for transparent future polls,” added Mrs. Oyier.

She said that with the fresh political bickering in the country, it will be a big challenge for the peace ambassadors in the region to unite locals.

Oyier asked politicians to practice mature politics that will lead to development at the grass roots level and develop democracy as well.

She said that the peace ambassadors will be achieving nothing if the country will be witnessing continuous political bickering.

“We need to embrace dialogue and coexistence, President Uhuru Kenyatta should term Raila as a colleague and dialogue with him on how the country will move forward warning that tough political stands are detrimental to the country’s development”.

Oyier said that ONUG will work closely with envoys and religious leaders in pushing for dialogue between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga.
