Speaking at Mangetho shopping center in Kuresoi North yesterday, county governor Kinuthia Mbugua said peace is important for development.

He said that Nakuru is known for peace and that those intending to cause disharmony will not be tolerated.

Mbugua said that his government is keen to unite all tribes in the county stating that no tribe or ethnic group is bigger than the other.

“I would want to ask Nakuru people to continue maintaining the peace we have enjoyed for the many years,” he said.

Governor Mbugua said that anyone be it politicians or individuals found preaching hatred will be arrested.

He indicated that the county government is working on policies that are aimed at bringing together all tribes in Nakuru.

Nakuru was among the towns that were badly hit by the escapades of the 2007/2008 post poll chaos, and Mbugua says the violence experienced would never occur again. “We want to unite all the tribes, no tribe is large than the other,” he added.

On the same note, Mbugua asked professional across Nakuru to use their knowledge and skills to promote development and unite the people.

He said that his government is inclusive and welcomes views from every person so long as they would help promote development.
