As Christmas and New Year Day festivities near and celebration mood sets in, apparently not all people are caught up in the 'celebratory' craze.
A season like this one, Mercy Wanjiku, a Kiganjo based tailor says that it provides her with a perfect business opportunity to maximise her profits.
Wanjiku who is involved in ordinary tailoring works says that she always turns to embroidery work every December as embroidered materials tend to be on high demand.
"Since I started my tailoring business close to 15 years ago, I have never missed embroidery work in December because embroidered materials are usually on high demand. For me December comes with more opportunities but with extra work," said Wanjiku on Monday.
Another tailor Josphine Wangari who trades in women 'kitenges' in Thika's Jamhuri market says that she buys Wanjiku's embroidered fabric which she designs into women kitenges among other things.
"I have many kitenge orders from local women who want them ready before the festivities begin. I'm really under pressure to hand over the finished kitenges before Friday. I, however, have a team of reliable tailors whom we are working together late into the night to beat the deadline," Wangari said on Monday at the market.
