Embu leaders have been urged to focus on serving the residents instead of wasting time lobbying for cabinet slots.

Joshua Kanake, a director at Rukuriri Tea factory laughed off Embu elected leaders' planned visit to State House to ask President Uhuru Kenyatta to appoint a member of the community into his cabinet.

The president has named nine members of his cabinet and is expected to nominate the last batch of cabinet secretaries soon.

Kanake said the leaders should visit the president over development issues and not over what he described as self-interests.

The tea factory director said there was a myriad of problems facing Embu County like the poor infrastructure, stalled national government projects among others that need the attention of the president.

He said the president has the prerogative of appointing whoever he wants in his cabinet and should not be forced to appoint certain people.
