Machakos County minority leader Thomas Kasoa has urged government to employ more nursery school teachers to improve education in the area.
Speaking on Tuesday in the County assembly, Kasoa also stated that the parents have been overburdened by high payments to the Parents Teacher Association (PTA).
"The government has been rolling out teacher's employment programs but Machakos has been sidelined which has led to parents paying nursery school teachers from their own pockets," said Kasoa.
The Mbiuni Member of County Assembly called upon Machakos Minister of education to ensure the ECD teachers are employed and deployed to schools.
"Last week we passed the supplementary budget and our education ministry should make haste and employ early childhood teachers ao as to relieve parents from the high amonts of school fees," he added.
Kasoa further stated the government should take advantage of the supplementary budget of Ward Development Funds amounting to Sh800 million to employ the teachers.
