Kisii Parish Vicar General, Jeremiah Nyakundi has challenged the government to employ technological response to disasters as one way of ensuring security prevails in the country.
On the other hand, he asked the clergy to pray for the country and the assailants of the inhumane acts, to understand the value of life.
Speaking on Tuesday to this writer, the Vicar general also said political leaders need prayers, so that they can engage their security agencies faster in the event of disasters.
However, he blamed the agencies for poor response to disasters, citing that a good number of students who were killed in the Garissa University massacre could be saved, were it that rescue operations started earlier enough.
“Let us pray for our political leaders and terrorists so that they can face the reality and know the value of life respectively. The government now need to make good use of technology to respond to disasters. Through this, security challenges can be combated in our country,” appealed Nyakundi.
“We could not have lost 148 students in the Garissa massacre were it that security personnel had arrived in the scene much earlier. What results could we expect if these officers arrived at the incident 10 hours later when we had already suffered enormous blow,” added Nyakundi.
