Kisumu County government has been challenged to employ county cleaners to improve the environment standards.
Kisumu residential spokesperson Audi Ogada, speaking on Monday at Kisumu social hall at a forum organized by environmentalists meant to improve the environmental standards in the town challenged the county government to give jobs to town cleaners to improve the environmental standards.
According to Audi, the town cleaners were needed to improve the environment standards, as the employed staff would be normally in check of the town hygiene aside from getting their daily bread.
He emphasized on the importance of a clean environment, noting that the locals needed co-habit in a clean and safe environments that would not attract diseases, further challenging the county government to hasten in allocating funds to town cleaners’ employment.
“We need to keep hygienic standards high by making sure we clean our surrounding, the county government should therefore create employment to individuals to act as town cleaners,” said Audi.
He added that besides living in clean environment, towns’ cool environment will attract various investors, tourists and also act as model town.
Kisumu environmental officer Kelvin Okoth also noted that the locals needed to stay in clean environment, challenging the locals to keep their environment clean and safe for their living by not littering, and instead dump litter at proper places.
Okoth also noted that the county government needed to create employment to the locals to keep the hygienic standards of the environment, stating that through this, the environment would be kept clean and safe for co-habiting.
