With regards to employment, the Kibera youth say that they are better off when compared to the permanently employed people.
‘’I prefer my daily hustle because am self employed. Being self employed is a good thing since it is flexible. I can wake up having planned my own schedule. I do not have to follow another person’s schedule because sometimes it does not favour the employee,’ said Vyett Mutsani.
Lorraine Ngati, a shop attendant at D.C said she prefers being self employed because one is their own boss.
"For example, If I feel like I want to open my business at 8.00am I will do so. Being employed will only give you freedom to a certain extent," said Lorraine.
Oliver Musa, a second hand cloth seller in relation to the topic added that private employment helps one to work without any pressure and it motivates a person since the lazier you are, the lesser the money you will get.
