Six employees of Nyamira county Assembly who were arraigned in a Nyamira court for allegedly being behind the Sh30 million scandal for the medical insurance cover have now been served with interdiction letters.
The six Mr.Duke Onyari (The acting clerk),Nehemiah Nyakundi( chief principal Finance officer),Robert Nyasato(Head of communications),Sylivanus Nyamora(Hazard), Mr.Eric Ayuka(Works) and Peninah Kerema (Senior clerk) had appeared before the Nyamira principal magistrate Mr.Walter Onchuru.
The six were accused for using their offices and positions in flaunting the procurement and tendering procedures rules contrary to section 248 of the economic crimes act which saw Johnceler insurance company pocketing Sh30 million for no service being rendered.
The accused were each released on a cash bail of Sh50, 000 until on 15th July when the case could be heard.
The interdiction letters which were drafted and signed by the county Assembly clerk Daniel Orina were yesterday officially handed over to the six suspects.
Orina told reporters that he wrote the interdictions letters on behalf of the county Assembly service board after it received a letter from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption commission authorizing them what to do .
“The six must vacant their respective offices until they are cleared by the court over the allegations leveled against them” he stated.
Some of the suspects shed tears uncontrollably as the letters were being handed to them in the office of the clerk.
