Senator Kimani Wamatangi has called for more youth empowerment programmes in order to fight rising cases of immorality among young people.
Addressing youth in Kikuyu town on Tuesday, the Senator said youth were becoming vulnerable to immorality and other vices for lacking proper empowerment.
Mr Wamatangi stated that immorality will end if young people are engaged fully in development activities.
“We need to think of more ways of empowering our young generation and involving them in development,” said the Kiambu Senator.
The Senator noted that recent exposes where youth were being linked to immoral acts is a major concern that should be addressed.
The Senator challenged the youth to shun bad ways and seek participation in development.
He appealed to the youth to use the available few opportunities to better their lives instead of engaging in evil acts.
Wamatangi warned that future generation is at risk if young people are not mentored in the right direction.
Meanwhile, the Kiambu Senator wants politicians to exercise political maturity even as they drum up support for the 2017 general elections.
“As we approach the 2017 elections politicians should exercise tolerance,” he said.
The Senator urged politicians to stop making remarks or statements that could trigger animosity.
“Politicians should weigh what they speak out during their meetings and rallies,” he said, adding that it is the responsibility of every leader to preach unity among Kenyans.
