Photo courtesyThe opposition has been dealt a huge blow over the use of the acronym-NASA in reference to the National Super Alliance coalition.Kenya Industrial Property Institute KIPI on Friday confirmed registering the NASA acronym as a trademark for the Northern Advocacy for Sustainable Agriculture.Northern Advocacy for Sustainable Agriculture is a Non-Governmental Organisation.Capital reveals that the Registrar of Trade Marks Leonard Kosgei approved the issuance of the trademark application registering the acronym NASA to Martin Nkaari.Kosgei said Nkaari’s application had been received, examined and approved by KIPI.The NGO was registered in 2016.About a week ago, the NGO petitioned courts to restrain the Registrar of Political Parties from registering the NASA identity as lobbied by opposition leaders.The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) stroke a pact with Amani National Congress (ANC) to form the National Super Alliance (NASA).CORD had its three constituent parties; Orange Democratic Movement, Wiper Party and Ford Kenya.Now the opposition’s fate remains unknown in regards to claiming its crusaded identity across the country.Raila Odinga (ODM), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Moses Wetang’ula (Ford Kenya) and Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) are said to be meeting over this weekend to seek a clear voice over the coalition’s flag bearer.The applicant –Nkaari was advised that his plea now awaits KIPI to advertise the new decision in the Industrial Property Journal.
