Under the Kiambu Kamba caucus, the group said that they will ditch Cord if Kalonzo’s name will not be on the ballot paper come August next year.

Led by Chairman Onesmus Mweu, the Kamba locals claimed that the community has been shortchanged and misused for a long time.

“We will only support Cord if Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka is endorsed as the coalition flag bearer in 2017, he said as quoted by thikatowntoday during a meeting at Makongeni grounds in Thika on Monday.

The locals said that Cord has a chance of trouncing Jubilee Party in 2017 if it endorses Kalonzo as its flag bearer.

They asked ODM leader Raila Odinga to return the favour to Kalonzo saying that the Wiper leader supported him in 2013.

“Raila should return the favour by backing Kalonzo’s 2017 bid,” added Mweu.

All the three Cord principals Raila Odinga, Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka have declared interest to vie for the presidential seat.

The three are seeking the Cord ticket in the 2017 general elections.

A section of Kamba leaders and locals have been urging Raila and Wetangula to shelve their 2017 presidential bids and support the Wiper leader.

Speaking in Makueni on Monday, Kalonzo maintained that he is the best candidate to fly the cord presidential ticket.

He said that he will send Jubilee packing in 2017 if endorsed as Cord flag bearer.
