Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has urged Cord co-principals Raila Odinga and Moses Wetangula to support Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s 2017 presidential bid.
Kibwana says that Kalonzo has what it takes to unseat the Jubilee government.
In an interview on Citizen TV Thursday, Kibwana said that its time for Raila to endorse Kalonzo’s presidency.
“Raila and Wetangula should seriously consider backing Kalonzo for the presidential seat in 2017 because he has what it is needed to send President Uhuru Kenyatta packing in 2017,” he said.
Kivutha stated that Kalonzo’s endorsement will be supported by Kenyans across all regions in the country.
He said that Kalonzo’s candidature will guarantee Cord votes from Western, Ukambani, Coast, Nyanza and other Cord strongholds.
The Makueni governor at the same time said that Cord has to remain united to defeat Uhuru.
He said wrangles and feuds in the coalition will give Jubilee an advantage in the 2017 polls.
At the same time, Kibwana says that Kalonzo is still the Ukambani political kingpin.
He said that no one has the political experience to match Kalonzo’s in the Ukambani region.
At the same time, the Makueni governor hit out at Machakos senator Johnson Muthama for forcing him to abandon his Muungano party.
Kivutha said that he cannot be forced to abandon his party and that he can only do so out of will.
Muthama last week during a rally at Sultan Humud asked Kivutha to dissolve his Muungano and be part of Wiper party.
The Machakos senator's statement drew a backlash from Kalonzo who accused the senator of allegedly fueling divisions among leaders in the region.
A public dress down of Muthama by Kalonzo elicited reactions with claims that Kalonzo had fallen out with the Machakos senator.
However, Wiper says that there is no fall out in the party accusing the media and ‘unknown’ forces of fueling speculations on the Kalonzo Muthama fall out.
