She graduated in 2014 from Moi University student but efforts to secure a job did not bore fruits.

Being the first born child in a family of 7, she sort to indulge in farming specifically poultry.

Amid inquiring from the internet she came across some chicken known as ‘Rainbow Rooster’ sold in Eldoret Town.

“I wanted a local breed that was not hard to handle and upon searching in the internet I saw Rainbow Rooster an upgraded indigenous chicken breed and I became interested,” said Nyangaresi.

“I borrowed a loan of Sh12,000 from my uncle as starting capital and bought 80 chicks each costing Sh100. I took care of the chicks and within a month I got a buyer who bought 70 of them at Sh350 each as 10 of them died,” she added.

“I grew my business thereafter and now I have more than 400 birds,” said Nyanagresi.

Her efforts are paying off since she makes more than Sh60,000 every month though challanges in the venture are not lacking.

“The biggest problem with poultry farming is the expensive feeds. It eats a lot into your pockets. A 50kg sack of feed goes for Sh2,750 which is very expensive forcing me to use the local available feeds sometime which lowers their growth rate," said Nyangaresi.

"Finding a ready market is also a problem and the more you stay with the stock the more you spend in terms of the feeds. Diseases are also a problem but I haven’t faced that much for I do vaccinate them regularly,” she said.

She has provided employment to one of her neighbors.

“As long as you are discipline and focused you will always succeed in life," she said.

“Life is not all about getting employed. Youth out there lament there are no jobs. Who said you must be employed? Self-employment provides us with a lot of opportunities to venture into,” said Nyangaresi.
