Nominated MCA Lydia Odhiambo has said that insecurity in Nyakach area has been on the rise, with cattle rustling being rampant.

She has petitioned the County Commander Nelson Njiri to deploy police officers in the area, to help curb the practice.

The nominated legislator said that cattle rustlers had invaded her parents’ home in Nyakach over the weekend, and stole their family cattle.

Speaking to the press at the county assembly on Tuesday, Odhiambo regretted the absence of police in the area, and said that most residents succumb to attacks due to inadequate police patrol in Nyakach.

“My own parents’ home was attacked by cattle rustlers and they made away with our family cattle,” said Odhiambo.

“My mother tried to call the police to come to her rescue but by the time the police were getting there, it was already late as the cattle rustlers had already made away with the animals,” added Odhiambo.

Odhiambo now wants the County Commander to deploy more police officers and patrol vehicles in Nyakach to help curb the vice.
