When Jubilee rose to power in 2013, majority of Kenyans, including myself, had a sigh of relief that things would change for the better with young leaders in the highest offices in the land.

Kenyans felt that former President Kibaki had not done much and he had disappointed them especially after he clung to power in 2007, a move that led to loss of innocent lives.

Uhuru, having won elections in 2013, even while undergoing a court trial process at the Hague, was thought to be the-would-be-savior the nation had ever been waiting for.

However, this was not the case. As soon as he was sworn in, together with his deputy, things completely took a new twist. He forgot the jobless Kenyan youths and hastily begun to think of how to reward his old political cronies.

He forgot Kenya has 42 tribes and narrowed down the national cake to mainly two tribes. Instead of relieving the common mwananchi of tax burden, he wittily begun thinking of how to broaden the tax base in the name of supporting national projects that so far have turned to be white elephants and have plunged the nation into huge debts.

He devised ways to kill spirits of trade unionists who perennially marshal their members to demand for better terms of service something he cleverly achieved through devolution of health services, for doctors and nurses, and using unending court processes, for poor Kenyan teachers.

Since Jubilee government took power, there has not been anything to smile about. Life has become terrible. Fuel prices have hit the ceilings. More strikes have been witnessed in schools and this has led to loss of millions of shillings through infernos.

Besides, there has been increased cases of extra judicial killings, untold mega corruption in the government, joblessness among youth as well as increased road carnage.

It is therefore interesting and ironical that a government that has failed to fulfill some of the key promises that they during their campaigns such as reviving the economy, creating employment opportunities, fighting corruption and guaranteeing security to its citizen can come up with more promises to fulfill if re-elected.
