Residents of Nyamira County have been challenged to join NHIF scheme to cut down medical expenses.

While launching Linda Mama programme on Wednesday, Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama said NHIF should be embraced by locals.

“NHIF has helped a lot of people in settling medical bills. Residents should enroll in the program and pay monthly contributions as required," he said.

He said the county government will pay monthly contributions to the NHIF scheme for all elderly people in the county.   

“The county started a program to pay monthly contributions for elderly people and those from poor families will also benefit," he added.
