Kuresoi South MP Zakayo Cheruiyot has asked acting Interior CS Fred Matiang'i to ensure security and peace before, during and after the forthcoming general elections.

Speaking on Thursday, the lawmaker noted that all Kenyans have a right to stay anywhere in the country without fear of eviction.

"We urge Matiangi not to play with the security of Kenyans. Nakuru is not a place to exercise nasty politics," he noted.

His remarks comes just a day after hate leaflets circulated around Nakuru County, informing non-natives to leave before the August polls.

The leaflets allegedly targeted communities allied with the Opposition coalition NASA.

"I want to urge all Nakuru residents to stay put until they vote. We know who is stirring ethnic animosity," Cheruiyot said.

"We demand all Kenyans be protected. We are not begging. I am saying this because I am who I am as far as security is concerned," he added.
