Meru leaders led by Senator Kiraitu Murungi and Women Representative Florence Kajuju have challenged Jubilee Party to conduct free, fair and transparent primaries.
Speaking on Sunday during a church service at the Cathedral Catholic Church in Imenti North Sub-county, the leaders Murungi further urged aspirants seeking the Jubilee ticket to maintain peace ahead of the nominations.
Kiraitu is also seeking to unseat governor Peter Munya.
“Since I am the only gubernatorial aspirant seeking a JP ticket, I will not be participating in the nominations but I want to appeal to all aspirants to conduct dignified campaigns and accept the people’s verdict after the exercise,” he said.
On her part, Kajuju urged Jubilee party supporters to turn up in their numbers to participate in the process.
“Jubilee is a popular party in Meru and it is more organized so it should be able to conduct a credible nomination,” she said.
