The Kisii University fraternity has been urged to maintain high education standards by ensuring quality.
Budalang'i MP and ODM secretary general Ababu Namwamba challenged Kisii university on Monday during a public lecture, that the institution ought to consider more on quality rather than the number of students.
"Education is about quality, not quantity. Do not care about the number of students but what you give to them," said Namwamba.
This comes after the university recently hit headlines that 10 of its campuses were risking closure. Namwamba however criticized the Commission for University Education (CUE) for treating Kisii University unfairly, saying it had put thousands of students' future at risk.
"The commission's role should be continuous monitoring and guide higher learning institutions. It cannot turn its failures to punish or destroy the reputation of Kenyan universities," he said.
Namwamba promised to work with Kisii University and but insisted that they should fix their problems as first as possible.
