Speaking during the Mashujaa Day celebrations on Tuesday at 64 stadium, Terer said Uasin Gishu residents should put their leaders to task by making them account for every cent they allocate to projects to prevent misappropriation of taxpayers’ money.

"Kenyans have a right to make the leaders they elected accountable. In case they see that the money allocated to a particular project has been exaggerated, they should come out and ask for accountability since its their right as enshrined in the constitution. And if the leaders are not accountable, they should be reported to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission for them to be investigated," he said.

He reiterated that through wananchi playing an oversight role, it enhances transparency, accountability, and misuse of public funds is reduced.

He urged county residents to always engage in public participation sessions since it is the only avenue where they can give their views on which projects to be prioritised.

"Public participation is mandatory as enshrined in the constitution and no money can be allocated to a certain project without the public views. I urge wananchi to always be showing up during such sessions to air their views," he added.
