Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua's wife, Lucia has called on parents to play a proactive role in ensuring their children access quality education .
Speaking at Mirera Primary School in Naivasha sub-county during a ceremony to give KCPE candidates with examination equipment, Lucia said quality education will guarantee good future of students.
“Students should be given quality education to enable them cope with modern challenges," she said.
She said there is need to promote free, equal access to quality education for all children especially those from rural and informal settlements.
She called on financially able individuals to assist children whose parents or guardians lack the economic resources to sustain their education.
She noted many children are unable to access education due to poverty .
“Many children are unable to access free primary education due to prevalent poverty and the society should help such children with the resources to access education,” said the Governor's wife on Saturday.
She also said the right to inclusive and quality education is paramount to all Kenyan children .
“Every child should be accorded quality, inclusive education that covers at least early learning, primary and secondary education, in formal or non-formal education settings," she added.
She further called on all education stakeholders to support provision of quality, inclusive education in early learning, primary and secondary education.
During the occasion, over 100 candidates received free geometry sets and clip boards .
