Uasin Gishu County Alcoholic and Licensing Board Director Armstrong Rono has put on entertainment joints hosting minors in 'jam sessions' saying they risk losing their licences. 

Speaking in his office on Tuesday Rono said that he has credible reports that some bars and restaurants in Eldoret and its environs that are conducting 'jam sessions' and selling alcohol to minors secretly.

"I have received reports from my officers and the public that there are bars and restaurants that conduct jam sessions that involve underage school children allowing them to take alcohol," he said.

He added that the board will carry out thorough investigations on the suspected joints and if the claims are confirmed, the owners will be arrested and prosecuted. 

"Their days are numbered. Besides arresting them, their licences will be revoked to act as an example to people with similar behavior," he aded.

He, however, urged parents to take care of their children and vet the friends they hang out with while ensuring they do not give them unnecessary money.

"Parents should ensure that they take care of their children; since if we arrest your child, we will also arrest your and charge you with child negligence," he warned.
