A section of Kisumu entrepreneurs have assured of cooperation with the government and urged the President not to exclude them from his development tours across the country.
Peter Ochieng, Kisumu Business Youth Association chairman said they will work with anyone with a desire to empower the residents of their county as President Uhuru Kenyatta has shown.
Ochieng said it is wrong for some leaders to politicise the President’s oncoming visit to Kisumu County adding that gone are the days of petty propaganda.
He added: “Such kind of remarks are aimed at blocking the Head of State from coming to Kisumu and some parts of Nyanza. The same leaders dine and wine with Jubilee leaders at some level.”
Kisumu West MP Olago Aluoch denied claims Cord leader Raila Odinga must be in the President’s entourage. Aluoch said it was in fact the Office of the President, which suggested that the initial tour be pushed forward due to his busy diary.
His Nyakach colleague Aduma Owuor said no leader in his right senses can make such demands at these modern times.
Meanwhile, a splinter group of elders from the Luo community have said Raila has a slim chance of defeating Uhuru in 2017 elections.
Led by former Luo Council of Elders chairman Riaga Ogallo, they said Uhuru has made huge political strides and will have an edge over Raila.
