Foreign diplomats led by US counsel Robert Godec and Britain's Nic Hailey met the NASA leaders led by Raila Odinga on Friday morning where they urged the opposition chiefs to engage in dialogue instead of proceeding with the Tuesday inauguration.

The meeting also engaged religious and business leaders who were in attendance and also emphasized on the need of dialogue and upholding of the Constitution.

“Religious and business leaders and diplomats met NASA leaders today. They urged government, opposition and all Kenyans to engage in open, transparent national conversation to address underlying issues & strengthen institutions to help Kenya. Stressed on the need to uphold Constitution,” Ambassador Godec said on his Twitter handle.

Attorney General Githu Muigai has already warned the defiant Odinga that the inauguration planned for Tuesday next week is an act of high treason and attracts death penalty.

Muigai also described as illegitimate the formation of People’s Assemblies by various County Assemblies which he says do not possess the power to do so and which also face, legal action.
