[Photo: hivisasa.com]Cancer patients in Eldoret town and its environs will now be able to access radiotherapy treatment, after the Equra Health Kenya limited opened a Cancer Comprehensive Center at the Eldoret hospital. According to the CEO Erhardt Korf, the opening of the new center represents a new dawn of quality cancer care in the region. The facility which has a linear accelerator radiotherapy machine will be able to serve 20 million patients across Western Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda. "Cancer patients from the region can now be treated using the latest radio therapy equipments without incuring travelling costs to Nairobi," he said in Eldoret town, Thursday."By bringing this treatment closer to people, we enable them continue working and benefit from the support of their families, as well as eliminating the cost of travel and accommodation in towns," he added. He,however, urged Kenyans to always go for regular cancer screening at least once in a year. "Cancer can be treated if detected earlier therefore regular checkup is paramount," noted Korf.The facility can examine and treat 60 cancer patients per day.
