Police spokesperson Eric Kiraithe has warned NASA that they must respect the constitution and follow all laid down rules.

While addressing a press conference Thursday morning, Kiraithe further dismissed NASA’s plan to conduct a parallel ‘swearing in’ of Raila Odinga as the president of the People’s Republic as one that does not hurt Kenyans so long as they respect the constitution.

“Declaring yourself a people’s president does not even make you a member of the county assembly (MCA), it does not make you anything. It only makes you and your followers happy,” said Kiraithe.

His remarks come as a result of comments made by NASA CEO Norman Magaya, who is quoted saying they have lots of options on the table.

“We have a range of options in our hands and swearing in Hon. Raila is one of our options on the table. It has been considered robustly and I can tell you that when the right time comes, the country will be informed,” said Magaya as quoted by the Standard.

Odinga jetted into the country on Wednesday evening after a four-day tour of Zanzibar.

His tour of the island came two days after he jetted into the country from the US, in a day that was filled with chaos and looting of property.
