Omondi was named as the ambassador by Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) Director William Kiprono during the 10th edition of the Cycle with the Rhino race held at the park over the weekend.

The Churchill Show comedian, who spoke to the press, said that he is passionate about wildlife conservation and that he will work with stakeholders to ensure the safety of rhinos.

Omondi said he will engage in campaigns and sensitisation programmes aimed at fighting poaching.

“I am happy to appointed as the new Lake Nakuru national park ambassador,” he said.

He said tourism is among the country’s key economic earners and that more measures need to be put in place to curb poaching.

The KWS director William Kiprono told journalists on Saturday that the government has put in place measures to ensure safety of wild animals.

He said plans to construct parameter walls in all parks and sanctuaries across the country are underway.

The director further said that sensitisation programmes will be carried in human-wildlife conflict prone areas to stress on peaceful co-existence between humans and wildlife.

Kiprono asked locals near parks and sanctuaries to immediately report cases of wild animals straying.
