The county government of Nyamira is set to release Sh7 million for the completion of a stalled structure at Esani dispensary in Kitutu Masaba constituency, Gesima MCA Ken Atuti has said.

Speaking when he toured the facility on Friday, Mr Atuti said a recommendation by county assembly health committee had been approved and the money will be disbursed in two weeks’ time.

“I had lengthy discussion with the county assembly health committee and they agree to allocate Sh7 million for completion of the structure. We have notified the health ministry and the chief health officer will make the funds available in two weeks’ time,” he said.

Mr Atuti said the building will increase the capacity of the dispensary which serves an estimated population of 2000 people and will also provide accommodation for a section of health workers.

“The current structure can only host very few people so the new building will increase our capacity. I do hope that some of the rooms in the annexed building will provide accommodation for our health works so that they operate from within,” he said.

The county assembly health committee chair ordered contractors to report to the site immediately and urged them to expedite the construction.

“We are having more health officials to be deployed to the center and that will happen once the building is completed. The contractor should report immediately to the site and I am of the opinion that he uses shortest time possible because the funds will be channeled to his account soonest,” he said.
