A man who had snatched a handbag containing a phone worth Sh4,000 and Sh10,000 cash from a woman along Nakuru-Kabarak road was hit by a fast moving car as he tried to escape, killing him on the spot.
Eye witnesses told this writer at the scene that the un identified man had been trailing the woman before the incident occurred.
The victim of the attempted robbery Joyce Waithera, an employee of Nakuru County government said she was on her way going to pay fees for her two primary school children at the nearby Moi Primary Schools when the man attacked her.
Fortunately she recovered all her property after rushing to the scene of the accident.
“I had just withdrawn money from an MPESA when someone pounced on me, snatching away the handbag and started running before deciding to cross the road after I raised an alarm,’’ said Waithera.
Agness Wambui the operator of a mobile money transfer shop, from where Waithera withdrew the money just before she was attacked, said she had noticed the middle-aged man hovering around the shop moments after her customer started transacting business with them.
“I almost thought that they were together because he was closely observing her transactions. I could have warned her but the suspect was too fast. He run a few metres from the scene and started crossing the road when a fast moving pick up knocked him down,’’ said Wambui.
Curious members of the public were mingling at the scene near the Nakuru County General Hospital some trying to identify the killed robber. Police were yet to arrive at the scene of crime.
