Nyamira County government has been called upon to establish kitty for orphans and the vulnerable to help them acquire good education and eat well.
According to a group of youths drawn from Seventh Day Adventist Church of Nyamira, they have been helping the needy in the society, and they have realized many orphans are forced to drop out of school due to lack of school fees and other needs.
Led by Peter Mokua, a youth leader at the church, they said the county government get revenues from the national government, and there is need to ensure that a small percentage goes to the local orphanage homes or directly to orphans' accounts as bursary.
“If a kitty is established at the county level, many well-wishers can be channeling their support through the kitty so as to ensure all children homes within the county get support,” he further said.
He decried of the high level of school dropout that is increasing in the county, and blamed the government over the same.
“If the county and national government help the less fortunate in the society, I am pretty sure that we will all see the number of school dropout reduce drastically,” he added.
