Nairobi Women Representative Madam Esther Passaris has sent an emotional appeal to President Uhuru Kenyatta after visiting patients at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) on Saturday. Through a tweet on Sunday, Passaris said a number of accident patients have been detained at the KNH after failing to settle hospital bills due to poverty. She appealed to President Uhuru Kenyatta to release the patients some of who she said voted for him (Uhuru), before Christmas. "Many Kenyans some who voted for you are not going to be with their families over Christmas because they are detained in Kenyatta National Hospital and other public hospitals in the Country due to poverty. Please, Mr. President release detained patients before you go for Christmas, "Madam Passaris said. She said the poor Kenyans are held hostage in the hospital due to lack of insurance and their inability to meet the acquired medical costs. "Many poor Kenyans men, women and children alike are held hostage in our public hospitals due to lack of insurance and their inability to meet acquired medical costs," she added. The patients said even those who want to visit them are not allowed because of the conditions they are living in.Esther Passaris was elected as the Nairobi Women Rep under ODM ticket beating Jubilee's Rachael Shebesh.
