The ODM director of communication Philip Etale has responded after Nairobi police commander Japheth Koome onSunday warned that Uhuru Park was a no-go zone come Tuesday, January 30, 2018.His warning came days after NASA announced to use the park as the swearing-in venue of their leaders Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka as people's president and deputy president respectively. Koome said that the opposition team had not formally informed him of their event. He added that if he allowed them to conduct the oath taking then there could be a confrontation and people will be injured because several groups want to use the Park on the same day.In a quick rejoinder, Etale told the police boss that NASA had not requested for any police security. He added that there is no law that stops anyone or a group of people from holding a meeting anywhere in the Republic."NASA has not requested for Police Protection on Tuesday during the Swearing-in ceremony of @RailaOdinga & @skmusyoka . In fact the LAW does not stop anyone or a group of people from holding a meeting anywhere in the Republic," Etale tweeted, Sunday. Nairobi county government had also earlier announced that the Uhuru Park was closed so as to undergo renovation.
