ODM communications director Philip Etale has apologised after Opposition supporters attacked two journalists during the NASA parliamentary group meeting at Wiper offices on Tuesday.

The incident saw Citizen TV's Francis Gachuri roughed up and threatened with a beating as an NTV videographer was slapped in public.

The two were rescued by journalists, some who decided to walk out of the meeting.

After the incident, Etale said he had reported the matter to NASA leader Raila Odinga as he was "not amused at all".

"I must say what I saw was unfortunate, barbaric and archaic," he said.

"On behalf of NASA, I apologise for the attack on my brother Gachuri and on my sister Jane of NTV. I am very disturbed."

Etale said the opposition will issue a statement on the matter and that the youths involved will be reprimanded.
