General Service Officers attached (GSU) to Kibichu wells near Kenya-Ethiopia border on Friday night made major gains after overrunning heavily armed militants from the neighboring country.
A Nyamira born GSU officer, who did not wish to be named, said at least 10 Toposa and Dong'ira militants, with a habit of raiding Kenyans were left dead in a 40-minutes intense fighting.
"We managed to handle them despite ambushing us. It was late into the night but we were well prepared," he said.
The officer added: "Only two of us were slightly injured but everything remains calm. It is not the fight time we have repulsed their bad intentions."
Last year, suspected Toposa militants attacked a Turkana school and left several dead, an incident that raised questions about the security of Kenya's border.
A foreign student is said to have been on revenge mission when he led the militia to attack the institution.
Despite the major victory, Kenya police is yet to issue a statement with regard to the attack from criminals from a neighboring country.
Although not allowed to defend Kenya's territories, the dreaded GSU squad is usually deployed in troubled areas including regions near border points to restore order.
